I’m from Texan going to be fishing in Wyoming?

Im going to Wyoming for my summer this year and dont know anything but bass fishing! Should i just chill and become a live bait fisherman and fill my summer that way, or should i really try to fish for other things, and maybe learn to pick up a fly rod. Will i actually enjoy this and actually learn how to fish for a fish ive never seen before, I barely even know what kind of fish they got up there. Any tips and every tip about anything and everything would be appreciated!

Who here fly fishes?

I have been fly fishing this summer, because I live in Wyoming and its a big thing, but I am from Louisiana.

I hear people say fly fishing is an art, blah blah blah.

I am well educated and certainly not less nuanced in my mind than another person, but I think fly fishing sucks.

I can catch about fifty bass on a lake in Louisiana with a hot spinning rod, and I can spend hours on a tough creek in Wyoming with my fly rod and catch two. Then the guys at the fly shops tell me that is a good day for that creek.

Fly fishing sucks right? Fishing is about fish, not art.
I like fly fishing in a drift boat with buddies, because then its just an easy time with your friends, but otherwise, even when I am catching fish, I don’t find it all that thrilling.

I like to reel’em in.
I don’t set the hook particularly hard.

I just feel like big fish are down under, and unless I use sink line, fly fishing doesn’t get me to the hogs.
