Help! Don’t get me wrong…these are beautiful birds, and I was so excited when I realized they were in my big old elm tree in the backyard the other night. But now I am starting to wonder, how long will they be there? They are like poop-machines. They leave every morning at about 6am I assume to go eat all day at the Delta. About 8pm at night they are back, flying in and bickering amongst themselves for a prime spot in the tree. I looked them up on the internet and was so happy I had some wildlife in my yard besides the regular squirrels, raccoons, birds and bugs. However, I am wondering if anyone knows if they will only be here temporarily or not. I read that some migrate and some don’t but could not find anything solid about that. I have called the fish and game dept and no one called me back. I am thinking of calling the Audobon society. If I have to clean up poo for a couple months is one thing, but for the rest of my life is another. I will add more details below.
If someone can help me I would appreciate it. They are pooping all over my patio and my plants. They must have left their nesting area and come here, because my elm tree is not a good nesting site, nor did I see babies here in the spring. Please, if anyone knows if they winter over in Northern California or has some experience with this, help!!!!
I’m wondering if perhaps because of all the new homes going up in this area if their old roosting places have been torn down to build….
