We purchased a living room set from Hank’s furniture. I went to Little Rock to pick it up. They put it in the back of our truck and have me on video picking up the tie downs and asking them to put them on. They told me the furniture was too heavy to fly out and didn’t need to be tied down. My daughter was driving and we didn’t even get 1/2 mile away when the love seat flew out. I am unable to lift more than 10 lbs so my daughter walked down the freeway but couldn’t find it. I called the the store in Conway AR and asked for the number to the warehouse and told them what happened. They gave me a number but noone responded. By the time we drove back around and asked the guys at the warehouse to help us the love seat was gone. The warehouse manager told me not to worry- they would give me a new one. Didn’t have one so they sent me to Beau Strickland in Conway. He told me I’d have to pay an additional $300. (I already spent $2000) Customer service refused to help.Paid $700 for their mistake
We sent back the other pieces. I refuse to do business with someone dishonest. We spoke to our attorney. She said it would cost $1000 to file. We couldn’t sue without an attorney because they are a coorporation. Our attorney told us Hanks Fine Furniture had the most consumer complaints in the business. Furniture would be broken or ripped but wrapped up like new. People would get home and call but the company say’s ” you signed for it” Too Bad! We have no recourse but would really like to hear from those with bad experiences and how to resolve. Even if we went to court and won we still have lost! The TV show 20/20 had a way to put this on the internet but I can’t find any information on how to do this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
I agree it wasn’t all their fault. Offered to pay !/2 of the $300- they refused to negotiate in any way shape or form. Has been added to a long list of BBB complaints. They are a large company so we cannot go to small claims court. Have to have an attorney.
I have Lupus and severe arthritis in my joints. I honestly don’t know how to use tie- downs.
