My husband and I would like to try it next time we go to the Smoky Mountains. We’d get an experienced guide, of course, but, would we spend the entire day learning as opposed to catching fish? Are the fundamentals easy to learn?

I am going to try fishing with Joe’s flies on opening day. Not for a fly rod, but a regular casting rod. I have some of their flies for my fly-rod. Do they casting flies work good too?

Six of us are going to Canada in mid September for a 4 day fly-in fishing trip. Our outfitter has told us that we are very likely to see quite a few moose on our trip. My question is this…as a precautionary measure I would like to a take a my brush rifle along just in case we do encounter an animal with ideas of his own where our well being is concerned. What exactly do I have to do to bring my rifle along? We will be driving in from the US. I found a pice of info saying that I have to declare my gun at my first point of entry, fill out a non-resident form and pay $50.00 dollars? IS this true, is it really that simple, am I likely to be hassled about bringing a gun and, maybe first of all, am I allowed to period?

i have plants in a old fish tank that i planted in dirt and i have it covered with plastic but these little black flying bugs that seem to be doubling in number every day are riving me crazy and i want to get rid of them but not hurt the plants.
One day a fish was swimming in a lake, and he noticed a fly buzzing around
above him. He thought,
“If that fly would only come down four inches I could jump and get it and
have my lunch.”
There was a bear watching the fish from the nearby woods thinking,
“If that fly would just come down four inches, that fish would jump up and
get it and I could go out and get the fish and have my lunch.”
The hunter watching the bear was thinking to himself,
“If that fly would lower four inches, the fish would jump up and get it, the
bear would come out of the woods and get the fish, and I could put down my
sandwich and shoot the bear.”
A mouse was watching all this, and thinking to himself,
“If that fly would lower itself four inches, that fish would jump up and get
it, the bear would come out of the woods and get the fish, the hunter would
put down his sandwich and shoot the bear, and I could go and get the hunters
sandwich and have my lunch.”
There is a cat watching this thinking,
“If that fly would just lower itself four inches, the fish would jump up and
get it, the bear would run out and get the fish, the hunter would set down
his sandwich and shoot the bear, the mouse would go for the hunter’s
sandwich, and I could go and catch the mouse and have my lunch!”
So all of this happens…..the fly comes down four inches, the fish jumps up
and gets the fly, the bear comes out of the woods and gets the fish, the
hunter sets down his sandwich and shoots the bear, the mouse gets the hunters
sandwich, and the cat starts running towards the mouse, but on the way the
cat slips and falls into the lake.
The moral of the story is…..
Lower the fly four inches and the pussy gets wet.
