I could go and research this, but I don’t really have time right now. I’ve always heard it tied to racism. I know that people protest against them hanging, etc. Every since I was young if we’d see one on someone’s vehicle, house, etc., you were told to steer clear of those people, because they were racist. I am a black woman, but I’m an adult, and I like to decide for myself now what beliefs I will and won’t have. So, I really would like to hear from people that do fly the flag……Are you racist?
My family and I just relocated to a city called Roanoke, VA. I’ve seen quite a few of the flags in the area, I’ve also seen KKK fliers on people’s windshields. I don’t want to raise my sons in a city where I have to fear them returning home one evening due to someone committing a hate crime. Honesty please.
Thanks for the responses. I am a bit uncomfortable with some of my surroundings, but I really a have no choice in this matter. My husband is here on assignment, so we’ll be living here for the next three years. It’s a beautiful city, and we were thinking about settling down, until a few signs that maybe we shouldn’t. Our boys are small now, so we have time to find a more tolerant home for them some day.
