How much money would be saved by removing the troops from the middle east?

How much money would actually be saved by pulling troops out of the middle east? Time after time critics argue that we are waisting money by being in the middle east..Money to rebuild will always be going to the middle east for a long time to come..If the troops were not in the middle east some of them would still be deployed. US troops get paid regardless of war or not..The military still trains and fires live rounds whether they are in Iraq or not..Ships still sail, jets still fly, Marines still deploy, reservist still drill, life goes on….All this cost money regardless of whether we are at war or not..So then why do some think we would be a richer Nation if we pulled out of Iraq?? Some claim the “recession” is due to the middle east..How are these two things tied together?? How much money would actually be saved? During times of peace everyone seems to be “ok” with the enormous defense budget, then why whine now about it??

  2. Congress approves all military spending whether we are at war or not, but of course we are spending more money right now, because more planes are flying, more rounds are going down range and the Marines are expanding to 220,000 by 2011. The war in the middle east isn’t costing us alot of money than people actually think. Plus, during war, alot of jobs are created. Thats how we got out the great depression during WWII.

  3. We have to have a strong military period. Trillions would be saved not counting the lives that are being lost over there. How do you put a price on human life. This is a pretty cold blooded question.

  4. We wouldn’t save enough money to rebuild the cities the terrorists would destroy if we pulled the troops out of Iraq and then cut the military at home. We would turn from the most powerful nation in the world to a third rate power.

  5. None… we still train when there’s no war, we still have bases without a war, we still go to places all over the globe when there,s no war… we aren’t spending more money its just being directed to the war… the money that is spent on the war usually goes to other things within the military, thats why there isn’t enough base housing, why reserve units don’t have proper funding… its just an excuse for political maneuvering
