Hey everyone.. can you believe this…?!!!!?

Ok… so I’m 16 and I was driving to the mall… I live in central Texas and we have been getting alot of rain. I don’t like to drive in the rain, but when I left my house… all was calm and well. Then about half way to the mall it was pouring!!!!!!!!! I coould hardly see, I had my windshield wipers on full blast and then all of the sudden, they tied up in a knot!!!!!!!!!!! I could not see anything! AHHHHHHHH! SO I swerved over to the side of the rode and flew throught the ditch, blowed a mile marker down and not a scratch on the car! Needless to say… I;m gonna try my best to stay iin when it’s wet! hahah. Thought I’d share!

Well, although that was scarry for you they say that everyone has at least one “incident” in their vehicle in their lifetime. Lets hope that was yours!! So no more ok? I am VERY happy to hear you are ok!!! =D Just know that in the future if it is raining that hard and even if you do have windshield wipers you can pull over to the side of the road just till the rain calms down a bit ok? I am 39 and have been driving for a long time but the rain is scarry to drive in esp when it is coming down fast or there is alot of rain on the ground………..Nothing is worth rushing for, nothing!! Glad you shared your story with me! Have an awesome weekend! Trina

absolutely unbelievable! I think your lying.

Everyone knows that cars never drive off the road, and if you hit a mile marker, it would surely tear your car in half! jk of cource. Be safe! :)

Things like that scare the poop outta me.

I was about 16 – my first really bad winter to drive – and I slid on some black ice into a ditch. Car was fine, but I still have a crooked finger from breaking it.

I am very grateful that you are okay. The car could have been totaled – but it can be relpaced! You sound like a safe driver, so don’t stay in when it rains – just learn and move forward.

You need to remember ONE thing – when you are skidding, always turn your steering wheel into the skid to straighten your wheels asap. My grandfather was a police officer and he DRILLED this one driving tip into my head. Everytime I have had to use it, it works.

Have your parents stopped being worried yet?

Some good advice from the other readers, but I wanted to mention be sure to put on your hazard lamps when you pull over to the shoulder (or in your case the ditch). The last thing you want is to safely get pulled over and have someone rear-end you because they couldn’t see you through the downpour.

Also even though you are safely pulled off the road, you (and your passengers) need to eave your seatbelt(s) fastened unless you have to get out of the car. That way you will not be knocked into next week if you do get rear-ended.

    Stay safe!

  9. you got very lucky…best thing to do is just slow down and try to gauge yourself by the car lights in front of you or the line down the center of the road…any time you are in a situation like that though…just slow way down…
