Lookin to tie homemade flies and sell them through a site such as tripod or possibly just through ebay. i understand tripod will help you advertise your sites using google search engine.
If i made 5 flies an hour could i make decent money off this get rich quick scheme?
I hate to tell ya that “no you can’t”. I been tying flies for years and i thought the same thing. Went on ebay and the local fly shops and hell even called orvis for some of my originals and they all didnt want nothing to do with me. But if you can more power to ya and good luck.

You’ll make just as much money selling them locally. Go to the sporting goods stores and talk to the owners. They will want to see some samples and will know what flies sell in your area.

I think your time is best spent with the local market as said by another poster.Ebay and others have brought in the tie em bulk and sell em cheap crowd and now the price is very low.
If you become good and get some notoriety with your flies yes you could make some money selling your goods.
Have a local shop(that sells flies) look over your flies and compare your quality with that of others. Do this first to have yours graded before you start to sell to the public.
Go to your local shop and hand out s few free samples of your flies to each shop you can.Also have your flies either carded or bulk boxed for a good display to show the shop owners.Have every fly in each size and style you make so the shop owner will have the correct product to look over.
Sell quality only!
Also do not over or under price your work be in the same ball park as the others!
Never down grade others work at a local shop!
Always be professional no matter what!

I was thinking for extra cash on the side at no way to make a good living wage selling just flies and at 5 per hour.

No, you can’t…….there are sites that offer flies @ $.55 each.
If you tied 5 per hour then you’d be making the amazing hourly rate of $2.75. But wait, there’s more !!! Considering a good dry fly cape is about $40 a pop, and of course you’ll need at least grizzly and furnace to start with, you’d have to make 145 to break even on the capes – that’s 29 hours of tying just to cover the capes, not to mention all the “other” materials you’ll need (pheasant tails, biots, marabou, chenille, dubbing, deer hair, elk hair, cdc feathers, and the list goes on and on.
I think you get the idea….
You may want to place a small ad in the classifieds of your local newspaper and see what kind of response you get,
that may be one way to get started.
Remember Murphy’s Law of investing: “Everyone has a scheme to get rich quick that will not work”.
